Holiday Pantry

My pantry has the usual – flour, sugar, really great chocolate, rice, pasta, beans! But when the festive season arrives I start stocking it with fun ingredients to make or serve spur of the moment nibbles or treats.

Drop in for Drinks

I always have special drinks for the DD.
  • Red and white wine
  • I always a bottle of Prosecco in the fridge – you never know when and what you might want to celebrate.
  • Drinks for the non-drinkers or the designated drivers DD – sparkling water, fancy pops

Drop in Nibbles: serve all on a platter for nibbling:

Assorted cheeses and olives
  • Crackers – make special crackers, not your regular everyday ones
  • Jar of marinated artichoke hearts
  • assorted olives
  • Goat cheese in the fridge  – I like Woolwich’s line
  • Jar of red pepper jelly – goes great over  goat cheese
  • Blue cheese
  • Smoked oysters
  • Nuts
  • Interesting chips – I really love these South Asian snacks – see the picture below

you can make a fabulous dessert so quickly
  • A really great vanilla ice cream
