Saputo has a new kid on their ricotta block, Ricotta with a natural vanilla flavour and no added sugar. Since my trip to Italy several years ago I have become a fan of ricotta and fresh fruit as a dessert.
Weighing in with 100 calories per 1/4 cup (60 mL) serving, you’re getting 5 g of protein and only 2 g of sugar which is the naturally lactose, found in all dairy products.
There are 7 g of saturated fat per serving. But before you have a fat fit, compare Ricotta to ice cream. Most ice creams are much higher in grams of fat plus they are loaded with added sugars.
From my healthy eating standpoint ricotta is the perfect addition to add to fruit as a dessert option, and Saputo’s Ricotta di campagna is delicious and smooth, just remember a little goes a long way, all you need is 1/4 cup (60 mL).
