Tuesday Night is Ice Cream Night!

For the past three summers my husband and I have gone on an ice cream date night! We pick a different ice cream joint, pick a cone and wander the neighbourhood. It’s a cheap and fun night out that includes a treat and some exercise!

So far we have wandered Bloor Street West and the Spadina area licking Lemon Meringue ice cream from Greg’s Ice Cream. The website http://gregsicecream.com/scoophappy/ says it is located at 750 Spadina Ave. so I guess they’ve moved since I was there last year when they were around the corner on Bloor Street West, I will have to check that out next week. Until then just go to the corner of Spadina and Bloor and look for a line up!

The Beaches and Ed’s Real Scoop Ice Cream may actually be our go-to-place; we’ve gone there so many Tuesday nights we just call it Ed’s! They have the best spicy chocolate ice cream I’ve ever had. A scoop of Red Hot Chili Chocolate Sorbet and one of Coconut is a perfect combo! they have two locations – one in the Beaches (Beach!) and one in Riverdale. Personally I still love the Beach location the best at 920 Queen Street East. We get our treat and then wander down to the boardwalk to walk off those calories! http://edsrealscoop.com/default.aspx

The Distillery District and Soma http://www.somachocolate.com/SOMA_home.html are a winning pair!  Scott had Blueberry Basil I had Dark Chocolate! Wandering around the Distillery district is always fun too! I love looking at all of the cool people!

Dutch Dreams at St Clair and Bathurst http://www.dine.to/dutchdream at 78 Vaughan Road – I can’t even remember what I ordered the line up was so long that by the time we got to the counter I’d lost it! Patience and delayed gratification have never been either one of my virtues.

If you love gelato you have to go to 1357 St Clair West and visit La Paloma! http://www.lapaloma.ca/home.php with over 70 flavours it really is worth the drive over from our neck of the woods! I always say I am going to try something different but every time I end up with a variation of something chocolate. Hmm, seeing a pattern here!

Every city has their ice cream gems. Start a new family tradition and make one night a treat night! It is totally worth the wander and the eating!

Mom tip – Shout Ultra and some elbow grease get out chocolate ice cream stains from your clothes!
